An afternoon walk around the old quarter of Tangerang city, with my old Pentax MX-1 professional digital pocket camera.

The photo above was taken on July 06th, 2020. The Covid-19 cases in Indonesia is soaring high. But none of the people in this area was wearing a mask nor a face shield. And most of the teenagers here were all looking down on their mobile phone all of the time, busy living in their digital lives.
These were taken in the Kampung Sunda Kelapa. By now, most of the illegal buildings there already demolished by the government. So, these photos are already a historical documentary.
This time we will be viewing the livelyhood of the small alleys around of the Laupasat (the old quarter of Tangerang city).

A little walk around the Card Free Day event, took some pictures, ate some street burgers. It’s fun but it can be a little too hot after 8 o’clock in the morning.
Most of the people went with their family and spouses. It is almost like going to a park on Sundays.

Laupasat in Tangerang is one of my favourite spot for photo hunting. The crowd, the dark alleys, the ancient chinese temple, and so on, all of them gathered in one place, which makes them perfectly photogenic. I think, almost at least once a month I went there to take pictures.
The best time to enjoy the crowd is on Sundays and on the 1st/15th day of the lunar calender, as there will be a lot of people praying in the chinese temple.

The other day I was invited to a photo competition held by the local government of Jakarta province, which was also to promote the islands in the north of Jakarta. The whole event was held from the 1st till 3rd of July, 2011. Everything was very well organized, it was fun and happy for everyone.
We scouted around 6 islands (Onrust island, Rambut island, Pramuka island, Kelapa Dua island, Panggang island, & Karya island) in 2 days this year, and we were given only 1 hour on each islands. It was not easy, though.
There were 2 themes this year, Landscape and Human Interest. I managed to get a total of 17 decent shots, 3 for landscape and 14 for human interest.
The winners will be announced on the 16th of July 2011. And, the trophies will be given and handed to the winners by the governor of Jakarta at the Pramuka island.
